On May 24, Pakistani sources reported that Chinese researchers have unveiled a groundbreaking 5G satellite technology enabling smartphone users to conduct video calls without relying on traditional mobile networks or additional equipment. The tech, which has been successfully tested by a Chinese firm aiming to compete with SpaceX, utilizes a Non-Terrestrial Network ( NTN ). This setup allows standard smartphones to communicate directly with satellites orbiting Earth, thereby removing the necessity for cellular towers, SIM cards, or Wi-Fi connections.

Instead, people can use their current smartphones for satellite video calls.
