Popular city businessman Simon Kabu and his daughter Maureen turned heads after making a grand arrival at the fourth edition of the Ngemi Festival in Naivasha.

How did the Kabus make their entrance at Ngemi Festival?

Widely regarded as giants in Kenya’s tours and travel industry, the father-daughter duo made sure their presence was felt, landing at the two-day cultural celebration aboard a sleek white luxury chopper.

The aircraft, branded in the colours of Maureen’s company, Adequate Safaris, was part of a surprise she had planned for her father.

Simon, the CEO of Bonfire Adventures, and Maureen, the managing director of Adequate Safaris, received a warm and ecstatic welcome from revellers and fans who rushed to the landing site, cheering and celebrating their arrival.

The two were dressed in stylish traditional Kikuyu attire, with Simon standing out in a ceremonial elder’s headgear.

Several videos captured the pair enjoying the vibrant atmosphere, mingling with fellow revellers and popular influencers associated with their companies.

Sharing his excitement on Facebook, Kabu wrote:

“Woooow! Today I had a blast! It’s not my birthday but at 51 years, life is never very serious. Work hard but play hard. Surrounded by my @top fans I’m having a good time in Naivasha. What’s your best song ever?”

The Ngemi Festival celebrates the rich blend of Kikuyu art, music, and culture, drawing in celebrities and cultural enthusiasts across the country.

Multiple editions are held in various locations annually as the event continues to grow in popularity.

The Bonfire Adventures CEO praised her for her hard work and explained that he wanted to mentor her, not just support her financially.

He told her she had done a commendable job and emphasised that the vans, each worth over KSh 30 million, were hers to run and grow her company.

Maureen thanked her father for believing in her and empowering her entrepreneurial journey.
