Tigers tough guy Terrell May admits he never imagined being chosen for the Blues and has suggested that his surname may have contributed to him not making the cut for the Origin team.

However, to tell you the truth, I was aware from the start of the season that I wouldn’t make it. Regardless of how good my performance was on last Sunday, I understood I wouldn’t be chosen.

I told my family and friends, ‘Regardless of how well I perform, I am certain I will not succeed.’

I sense that I have to put in additional effort due to my surname. There are individuals who disapprove of both my character and my name.

Leaving the Roosters also damaged my reputation. Nobody understands the truth of what occurred. I still can’t comprehend why it happened. My character defines who I am. I refuse to pretend.

In May’s family, her siblings Tyrone and Taylan have similarly found themselves entangled in various scandals away from the game.

May expresses his desire to get in touch with Blues coach Laurie Daley following the initial Origin game.

“He’s currently preoccupied with preparing the team. This isn’t about me,” May stated.

I would really like to talk with Laurie sometime soon to hear his thoughts on what I should focus on improving to join the team. I’ll call him later.

Last week, Blues icon Brad Fittler strongly criticized May regarding a contentious Origin leak, advising the Tigers player to ‘become more humble.’

May all but officially revealed that he didn’t receive an Origin call-up when he said to another player, “Remember that Blues jersey I got for you? You can throw it away now.”

May later quipped: “I might need to change my loyalty.”

Fittler was displeased with May’s conduct and unleashed a harsh critique during Nine’s The Sunday Footy Show.

‘A few years back, [tough forward] Haumole Olakau’atu did something quite similar, and then last year when I joined Manly, he approached me, apologized, and spent time explaining that he had been immature at the time,’ Fittler stated.

I genuinely admired the topics he discussed and his lighthearted approach to them.

I think Terrell May might want to consider giving Haumole a call and toning things down a bit.

‘Seriously, what are these guys even thinking? There are folks back home who absolutely adore this game. They really do. And here you are, playing the game, and suddenly you feel like talking like this. It’s so nonchalant.’

‘Pathetic.’
