MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) — In about two weeks, Latino artists will convene for the second annual Wisconsin Conference on Latinx Arts and Culture.
The conference is being organized by LOUD, a statewide initiative that represents “Latinos Organizing for Understanding and Development.”
The two-day event will bring together Latino artists to explore their culture through music, film, exhibits and writing.
The event will occur on May 2-3 at the Centro Hispano of Dane County.
The founder and executive director of Loud, Oscar Mireles and Angela Puerta, who oversees the conference workshops, stopped by WMTV on Friday.
Mireles and Puerta expressed their enthusiasm about witnessing artists coming together for this occasion.
“It’s a space for discussing art, which brings something positive to the community,” stated Mireles.
It has been four years since this event was last organized. Mireles also mentioned that the venue for this occasion couldn’t have been chosen better.
We believed it would be an ideal spot to gather everyone,” ‘centro’ signifies uniting individuals and returning them to their roots. It helps reconnect us with our cultural heritage.
