Moroccan Elegance Glows in Prague: Samira Haddouchi’s Caftan Collection Captivates
The Moroccan Cultural Heritage Days were held in Prague from May 17-18, showcasing an exhibition of traditional caftans designed by the acclaimed international fashion creator Samira Haddouchi. This event was arranged by the Moroccan embassy in Prague along with the Joussour Association for Arts and Creation, taking place within the historical walls of Troja Palace.
During the opening ceremony, Haddouchi showcased her creations, illustrating the blend of traditional Moroccan handicrafts with modern design elements. Attendees comprised ex-presidents and past premiers from the Czech Republic, along with various diplomats.
Haddouchi said their aim was to create a conversation between Morocco’s cultural legacy and contemporary fashion styles, producing designs that resonate with everyone across different age groups. She highlighted the importance of keeping the caftan classic yet embodying present-day dynamism.
The extensive program included artistic shows, craft displays, and food demonstrations, drawing around 300 politicians, diplomats, and cultural personalities. The festivities extended across major plazas in Prague up till May 18th.
Born in Tangier and educated at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, Haddouchi has presented her collections duringFashion Week events in cities likeParis, Milan, London, Dubai, among others around the world. Notable figures such asWhitney Houston andMajda Roumi have sported her designs.
