Ben Griffin sinks clutch putt on 18th green to clinch 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge victory at Colonial

Ben Griffin took the
headed the leaderboard after the opening round on the last day with an eagle and maintained his position at the top—however, he needed to sink a putt on the 18th green to clinch victory on Sunday afternoon at the
Charles Schwab Challenge
at Colonial.

, and after he reduced the margin to one stroke with his chip-in on hole number 18, the focus turned to Griffin.

Griffin effortlessly made his 39-inch putt, finishing at 12-under-par, which put him ahead of Schmidt who finished with an 11-under-par score.

This marked Griffin’s second PGA Tour triumph in 2025 as well as his career, with this being his inaugural solo win. Earlier in April, he had secured his prior tour victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which was a team competition.

Scheffler falls short

His favorite status was initially hampered by a sluggish beginning, but he bounced back with a stellar performance in the third round, putting him within the top 10 as play moved toward Sunday. Scheffler from Dallas carded a one-under-par 69 on Sunday, securing a fourth-place spot.

If he had won, Scheffler would have become only the second golfer in PGA Tour history, following Ben Hogan’s achievement in 1946, to claim victories at both the Byron Nelson and the PGA Tour event held at Colonial Country Club within the same season.
