Angels’ Yusei Kikuchi Shares Hilarious Conversation with Manager Ron Washington

Ron Washington, the Los Angeles Angels’ manager, had a conversation with starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi during a meeting at the mound in the sixth inning on Friday, but Kikuchi couldn’t fully comprehend what he was saying.

I simply wanted to remind him not to lose control of the situation,
Washington said
He traveled too long of a distance, and we required him to complete that sixth inning.

Despite the communication gap, Washington was confident that he conveyed his key points effectively, and it appeared that Kichuki grasped what Washington expected of him. Throughout 5.2 innings, Kikuchi prevented the Miami Marlins from scoring any runs while recording four strikeouts. Following the Angels’ victory with a final score of 7-4, this performance earned Kikuchi his inaugural win since joining the team.

“There was a significant amount of slang I didn’t understand, but I decided to put in my best effort,” Kikuchi stated via his interpreter following the match.

“Kikuchi understands,”
Washington remarked with a grin
He may have claimed to you all that he didn’t fully grasp what I said, but in reality, he did.

The victory extended the Angels’ winning run to eight games and propelled them ahead of the Texas Rangers in the American League West rankings. However, their hot streak came to an end during the second match against the Marlins on Saturday with a 6-2 defeat, which also marked the beginning of another losing skid on Sunday.

I’m glad I finally secured that initial victory,
Kikuchi said
Through interpreter Yusuke Oshima, he said, “I don’t believe many people dwell on that too deeply nowadays, I hope. However, I’m pleased to have accomplished my very first one.”
