Mahira Khan Brushes Off Removal from Bollywood Poster: “It Didn’t Affect Me at All”
Pakistan, May 24 – Pakistani actress Mahira Khan responded coolly to certain Indian extremist groups who removed her picture from promotional materials for her Bollywood movie Raees. During an interview with Maliha Rehman, Mahira dismissed the incident lightly, stating, “It wasn’t concerning at all.” These alterations occurred recently amidst heightened tensions between both countries.
In 2016, Mahira co-starred with Shah Rukh Khan in the movie “Raees.” Following a terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Kashmir, in April 2025, certain Indian extremist groups initiated a movement aimed at removing Pakistani performers from Bollywood promotions. This led to Mahira’s images being taken off the promotional materials for “Raees”—almost nine years post its initial launch.
Mahira described the action as “preposterous and immature” and mentioned that she initially did not pay attention to it. She further commented, “To erase someone from a poster after so many years is absurd. It’s a very narrow-minded decision; I couldn’t treat it with gravity.” Additionally, she expressed amusement over how intensely certain individuals view such symbolic acts.
During the same interview, Mahira talked about her connection with co-actor Humayun Saeed. She emphasized that despite being close companions, they do not consider themselves “best friends.” As she stated, “Our understanding of one another has been beneficial during filming Love Guru, but beyond that, nothing more exists between us.”
Humayun Saeed also addressed the Raees poster controversy, describing it as “foolish and juvenile.” Both actors concurred that genuine art transcends political disputes. Mahira succinctly captured their sentiment with a laugh, saying, “It was so foolish, I simply chuckled. It didn’t affect me at all.”
