Israeli Strikes in Gaza Claim 15 Lives, Including Children and Aid Workers

On Saturday, Israeli airstrikes resulted in the deaths of at least 15 individuals in Gaza, as reported by Gaza’s civil defense. These strikes occurred across various regions within the area. An initial attack in Khan Yunis early in the morning led to the death of a family consisting of a couple and their two young children. Additionally, another assault involving a drone struck a group awaiting aid distribution close to the city, causing fatalities among at least five people.

Wissam Al-Madhoun, who has ties to those affected, stated that an F-16 missile obliterated the whole residence. He questioned, “What wrong have these children done against Netanyahu?” as he grieved. Crowds assembled weeping at Nasser Hospital where bodies shrouded in white fabric were placed. The Israeli defense forces neither confirmed nor denied the attacks but mentioned they had struck more than 100 locations, which included tunnels and areas linked with militants.

As of March 18, after Israel restarted military activities, the Gaza Health Ministry reports that over 3,700 individuals have lost their lives. The cumulative fatality count from this conflict has surpassed 53,900, predominantly comprising non-combatants. Bombing raids have intensified recently, and the tally of wounded continues to increase each day. There is widespread apprehension about potential further assaults in the upcoming days.

At the same time, the United Nations has raised alarms about an intensifying humanitarian emergency. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres characterized this period as the “most brutal stage” of the strife. Food and medical resources are extremely scarce. Additionally, inadequate water availability is attributed to broken pipeline systems. The Gaza City municipality cautioned that a severe water shortage could develop unless prompt restoration efforts commence shortly.

Moreover, the World Food Programme reported that 15 relief lorries were plundered the previous week. They appealed to Israel to facilitate quicker delivery of assistance. Starvation and dread are rapidly escalating throughout Gaza. With rising heat, essential requirements such as sustenance and hydration have become increasingly scarce. Nonetheless, individuals persistently await both tranquility and support.
