Santa Fe Students Shine in Annual Art Show

Gainesville, Fla. (WCJB) — Approximately seventy artworks have been selected for this year’s Santa Fe Art Show, featuring various forms such as paintings, drawings, and photographs.

Three contributions come from artist and student Tabatha Seiter.

“I possess a sizable painting, which is a mixed media creation, along with an interactive sketchbook from my time studying abroad,” stated Seiter.

This is Seiter’s inaugural exhibition of her artwork at this location.

She informed TV20 that art serves as a medium through which she expresses herself to others.

“It feels like I’m revealing a part of myself and my identity, so being able to share this with others is truly gratifying,” Seiter mentioned.

Out of the seventy pieces only one winner emerged — and that is Sierra Neal who graduated in December.

Neal has claimed the $250 cash prize, yet gallery manager Brynna Bat states that all artwork will stay on display for two weeks to guarantee everybody gets a chance to see it.

Art goes beyond simply creating beautiful images; it has the power to provide emotional release and facilitate healing,” explained Bat. “It offers a platform for communities to express themselves, giving voices to those who may otherwise remain unheard.

The Santa Fe Art Show, according to Bat, is an event that artists eagerly anticipate annually. She adds that each year, she gains inspiration or learns something new from it.

“How students are using their curriculum to express themselves and what the faculty is teaching them, along with how much they’re developing and adjusting as well as discovering their individual artistic voices,” Bat stated.

Museum authorities mention that around three hundred entries were submitted; however, only one winner will be chosen. Nonetheless, they express pride in the students who decided to join and showcase their talents.
