BET to Unveil Docuseries Tracking Michael Vick’s Transformation as Coach

Michael Vick’s period at Norfolk State is

set to be chronicled

In a docuseries announced by BET, as stated in a press release from the BET Media Group on Thursday morning, the series will be produced by SMAC Entertainment, a firm cofounded by

Alumni of an HBCU and Super Bowl champion Michael Strahan.

The production will be overseen by Strahan, Constance Schwartz-Morini, and Fred Anthony Smith from SMAC Entertainment. Executive producing duties at BET Media Group will fall to Tiffany E. Williams and Angela Aguilera. Additionally, Kijafa Vick is set to act as an executive producer.

The series signifies Vicks’ comeback to the network, with BET having previously broadcasted them.

The Michael Vick Project

In 2010, a ten-part reality TV show was launched documenting Vick’s comeback to professional football following his incarceration of two years because he participated in a dogfighting scandal.

“We are thrilled to join forces with BET to narrate the upcoming phase of our football story and our personal journeys, as we come back to the place where everything began for us,” stated Michael and

His spouse and fellow Hampton University graduate, Kijafa Vick

The new docuseries is set to showcase Vick’s highly anticipated return to Virginia and his takeover of Norfolk State, a school rich in its athletic history but hasn’t had much success in football since its jump to Division I in 1997.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Michael Vick back to BET. Michael brought his first series to our network, and now we’re proud to join forces with him again—this time alongside our partners at SMAC—to tell a powerful new chapter of his story. From NFL legend to HBCU coach, Mike’s evolution is impactful, powerful, and inspiring. BET has always been a home for stories that celebrate growth, resilience, and Black excellence—and Mike’s return embodies all of that. We’re excited to spotlight this new chapter and shine a light on the heart, pride, and culture of HBCU athletics through his experience.” said Tiffany Lea Williams, Executive Vice President of Unscripted Programming and Development, BET Media Group.

I’ve experienced firsthand the impact that Historically Black Colleges and Universities can have on a community and how they provide opportunities for numerous student-athletes,” stated Strahan. “It’s truly inspirational to see Michael Vick dedicate himself to shaping these young men’s lives and sharing the lessons he learned through football. I’m looking forward to seeing fans accompany him as he embarks on this journey with Norfolk State University.
