John Smith dampened St. Joseph’s potent offensive surge by pitching six scoreless innings in the GMC Red Division match.
The veteran right-hander gave up two hits and two walks, striking out five batters over six innings. Harry Denney pitched a scoreless frame for the Knights (5-4), recording one strikeout.
Smith also got a single hit, drew two walks, and contributed one run batted in when visiting Old Bridge put up four runs in the third inning to take the lead from a tied match. Akhil Penkala had three hits out of four attempts along with driving in two runs, whereas Brody Nugent managed two successful swings out of four at-bats scoring two runs. Brady Meyer achieved two hits out of his two tries, received a base-on-balls, brought home one runner, and crossed home plate twice himself. Additionally, Justin Hascup notched a double, plated one run, and touched home once too.
The Falcons (4-3) had secured four consecutive wins and scored an average of 13 runs per game during this streak. Bobby Christensen continued his strong performance by achieving 1 hit in 2 at-bats along with drawing a walk. Additionally, Kris Almanzar and Logan Ring both contributed with singles.
Sayreville 4, Perth Amboy 2:
Logan Kaufman conceded two runs in the initial inning but then found his rhythm to pitch a complete-game three-hit shutout, not allowing any walks and striking out seven batters, leading Sayreville to victory in the GMC White Division contest.
The Bombers (4-3) staged a comeback with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on another run in the sixth. Chase Cannan got two hits and scored twice, while Michael Robinson also had a hit and crossed home plate once.
Cesar Suriel began strongly for Perth Amboy (1-6), allowing four runs (three earned) on two hits and a walk, while striking out five batters. Justin Foy hit a home run and brought in two RBIs.
St. Thomas Aquinas scored 7 points, while Spotswood managed 4 points.
Declan DiCarlo pitched six innings without giving up any runs in relief, permitting just one hit and one walk, while striking out four batters to secure the victory for St. Thomas Aquinas, which completed an important GMC White Division doubleheader sweep.
Down 4-1 in the fourth inning, the Trojans (6-3) scored six runs in that frame, highlighted by Josh Figueiredo’s two-run hit. Later, Lucas Cassino took the lead with a well-placed bunt. Adrian Sanchez, a junior, went 2-for-3 at bat with one run batted in.

Kevin Arroyo pitched a complete-game shutout as the Barrons stayed unbeaten with their GMC Red Division doubleheader sweep.
In his debut varsity campaign, the young right-handed pitcher has become one of the best choices available to his team, boasting an impressive earned run average (ERA) of 1.05 over 20 innings pitched this spring. Woodbridge maintained their undefeated record with scores coming in during both the second and sixth innings.
Ryan Leach smashed a solo home run and had two walks, while Bryan German contributed with a single that drove in Michael Gurovich.
Braydon Roma had a strong beginning with Edison (3-6), giving up only two runs over six innings.
Metuchen 3, South River 2:
Metuchen secured the GMC Blue Division sweep with a three-run performance in the second inning.
Julius Rosado from South River had an impressive game going 3-for-3 with a double. His single in the third inning brought his career hits total to 129, surpassing the longstanding program record of 128 set by Mike Feaster.
In Metuchen’s (6-2) victory, their initial score came from an opponent’s error, followed by a sacrifice fly executed by Joe Tamburello for their second point, and then they secured their third run with an RBI single hit by Matt Jelleme. Simon Rosal achieved two hits out of three at-bats during this game.
Jon Nugent covered all grounds by allowing eight hits and a walk while recording six strikeouts.
The Rams (5-2) secured their win with James Zsorey’s two-run double in the third inning, while Jimmy Sanchez ended the game with three hits. Despite Julien Burosovic pitching for six innings and striking out once, he gave up three unearned runs, four hits, and walked one batter, resulting in his loss.
Watchung Hills 12, Somerville 2 (after 5 innings)
Max Payne hit a ground ball that allowed Andrew Deo to walk off and end the game via the mercy rule in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Max Eder conceded two runs in five innings, allowing four hits and recording three strikeouts for the Warriors (6-1). Jake Keirstead had a solid game going 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Meanwhile, JJ Jaconski contributed significantly by getting one hit in two attempts, drawing two walks, scoring twice, and driving in two runs.
Somerville fell to 3-3.
Middlesex 2, Colonia 0:
Dominic Long assumed the position of ace pitcher by delivering a full-game shutout, helping Middlesex secure a split in the GMC White Division against Colonia.
In seven innings of work for the away team Blue Jays (6-2), the second-year player conceded five hits and three walks, along with securing seven strikeouts. This season, Long boasts an impressive 0.97 ERA over 21 2/3 innings pitched, racking up 22 strikeouts in total.
Long also had a performance of 2-for-3 including one RBI and one run scored as Middlesex put up two runs in the fourth inning; meanwhile, Sean Hughes contributed with an RBI single.
Colin Kroner pitched all the way through for the Patriots (5-2), giving up five hits and a walk.
South Brunswick 5, East Brunswick 4:
James Angermeier secured his inaugural victory by pitching all seven innings, helping South Brunswick achieve a split in the GMC Red Division.
The second-year right-hander gave up three earned runs along with four strikeout outs for the Vikings (2-7). Jack Whitlock recorded a double and brought home three runs, while Bretton Lynch contributed with one RBI. Collin Perna scored two runs and hit a double, Christian Andersen tallied two runs, and John Koch added a double and a run; all of them finished 2-for-3 at bat.
East Brunswick dropped to 3-4.
South Plainfield 4, Monroe 2:
Aiden McCarthy pitched 6 2/3 innings for the victory and contributed an RBI as South Plainfield secured a split in the GMC Red Division.
The hosting Tigers (6-3) managed to score two runs in the initial inning, taking a 2-1 advantage, followed by additional scores in both the fourth and fifth innings. McCarthy conceded two runs and distributed eight hits along with one walk, striking out three batters. Jayden Jimenez secured the last out of the game.
Dave Butrico went 2-for-3 at bat, while Dan Kapsch (with a double) and Nick Irizarry both contributed with hits and managed to score.
New Brunswick 12, Piscataway Magnet 2 (5 innings)
Elkin Reyes pitched all five innings, permitting just one earned run among the two total runs scored, while also surrendering two hits and two walks, coupled with racking up six strikeouts, which helped guide New Brunswick to victory in the GMC Gold Division game.
The Zebras (4-1) took an early lead at 3-1 before extending their advantage with seven more runs during the top of the fourth inning. Kelvin Heuston delivered a strong performance going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and crossing home plate three times. His brother, Devin Heuston, also shined hitting 3-for-4 including one double along with driving in one run and scoring twice himself. Furthermore, Jose Encarnacion contributed significantly with a triple and one RBI, while Jose Omar Abreu added value through his double which brought in two runs. Other notable performances included Jacob Henderson contributing with an RBI and a run scored, Alex Rodriguez adding another run, and Ryan Diaz securing a base hit as well.
Kyle Malchiodi hit a single, driving in two runs for Piscataway Magnet (3-4).
Manville 12, South Hunterdon 3:
Evan Canica began well, conceding three unearned runs and surrendering five hits, while also recording five strikeouts across seven innings.
In the game against Manville (4-4), they secured an impressive 10-0 advantage after scoring five runs in both the bottom of the first inning and the third inning. Tyler Johnson contributed significantly by going 3-for-4 at bat with three RBIs during their victory. Additionally, Aidan Johnson recorded two hits along with driving in two runs and notching one double, while Robert Petrone scored three runs. Josh D’Ambrosio also made notable contributions with a double and one RBI.
Somerset Tech 12, Timothy Christian 2 (after 5 innings)
George Ghanime pitched all five innings and recorded six strikeouts as Somerset Tech secured the GMC Gold Division victory.
Nick Raspovich achieved hits in all four of his at-bats, swiped five bases, and crossed home plate four times for the Jaguars (3-3). Caden Winnicki got three hits along with drawing a walk; he added a double with two RBIs and scored thrice himself. Alex Morales finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs from a double and contributed another run. Additionally, Nate White notched two hits including one RBI and tallied two runs. Meanwhile, Cole Russomanno hit a double contributing to an RBI and two runs scored.
Elisha Mena had two hits and drove in one run for Timothy Christian.
New Providence 8, Dayton 0:
James Miller tossed a three-hitter complete game with one walk and four strikeouts, as the Pioneers extended their lead by scoring four times in the top of the fifth inning.
Kyle Felt went 3-for-4 and scored two runs for New Providence (2-5). Ethan Cifarelli (2 RBIs), Vince Graziano (2 RBIs), and Troy Faucher (two runs) each contributed two hits. Michael Schmidt added a single with an RBI and scored three times.
J.F. Kennedy 16, Piscataway 6 (6 innings):
Michael Rosales hit a home run and contributed four RBIs as J.F. Kennedy secured victory in the GMC Blue Division game.
Rosales ended the game with a batting average of .670 after getting two hits out of three at-bats and scoring three times for the Mustangs (4-4). On the mound, he secured the victory by fanning nine batters over 5 2/3 innings. Grant Lorentzen recorded two hits along with scoring three runs and hitting a double. Similarly, Zach Tyler contributed with two RBIs, a double, and one run scored. Joziah Valerio added value with his single RBI and two runs scored. Furthermore, Myles Ulaky delivered with a double and brought home two runs, while Fremy Peralta got an RBI from his base hit.
Justin Brown had two doubles along with one RBI for Piscataway (2-5), and Kevin Kovach contributed a double and drove in two runs.
Gill St. Bernard’s 7, Warren Hills 0:
Joey Dwek threw five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, permitted only two hits and issued three walks in the Knights’ victory.
Owen Ehrenkranz pitched two flawless innings with five strikeouts for GSB (5-4). Dwek also achieved 2-for-3 at bat along with one RBI. Jack Markovich scored twice and hit a double, while Drew Aromando brought home one run and scored another alongside hitting a double as well. Each of them—Ehrenkranz included, who drove in one run and crossed home plate once too—managed to get two hits each.
North Plainfield 6, J.P. Stevens 3:
Davyn Ciriaco secured the victory as the Canucks maintained their strong beginning.
In a GMC Blue Division contest, the veteran pitcher permitted one earned run over five frames, yielding two hits along with four walks and accumulating eight strikeouts for North Plainfield (7-1). Ian Lameira contributed a single and knocked in two runs, as did Tommy Zotollo who also hit a double. Additionally, Victor Ceda recorded a triple and crossed home plate, while both Mark Fultz and Jake Zotollo managed singles and came around to score twice apiece.
Mukund Rao and Nolan Overmyer both recorded two hits and brought in one run apiece for the Hawks (2-8).

Davyn Ciriaco scored when the bases were full in the tenth inning, securing the GMC Blue Division victory for the Canucks.
Victor Ceda achieved two hits out of three at-bats for North Plainfield (6-1), scoring Tommy Zotollo during their turn at bat in the second inning. In this game, Tommy Zotollo performed impressively, conceding only an unearned run along with accumulating five strike-outs across six innings pitched. Ian Lameira secured the victory after pitching four scoreless frames where he allowed merely one hit alongside racking up seven strike-outs.
Aarush Patel performed exceptionally well on the pitcher’s mound for J.P. Stevens (2-7), permitting only one run over nine innings while striking out six batters. He surrendered three hits, issued one walk, and also hit a batter.
Metuchen 8, South River 6:
Lucas Malamug participated in his second no-hitter this season with Metuchen and also hit a home run, securing the GMC Blue Division victory for them.
The Bulldogs (5-2) didn’t concede a single hit but issued 15 walks, hit three batters, and committed two errors.
Malamug permitted two runs from six walks and recorded 12 strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings, also hitting three batters. James Fenton didn’t concede a single hit over 1 2/3 innings yet surrendered four runs due to nine walks, complemented by four strikeouts.
Malamug achieved 3 hits out of 5 at-bats including a solo home run, while Matt Jelleme also homered solo and got 2 hits from 4 attempts. Cooper Crawford recorded 2 hits in 3 at-bats with a double and scored once; Simon Rosal contributed a single along with driving in two runs. Additionally, Aeneas Ralph notched a hit and brought in one run.
On April 8, Malamug threw a no-hitter against J.P. Stevens over seven innings, completing the game.
South River (5-1) managed to score six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning but still failed to narrow the gap. Jeremiah Sanchez had a strong performance with four walks and one run scored.
Union Catholic 14, Scotch Plains-Fanwood 9:
Chris Tortorella secured two hits and contributed three runs batted in as Union Catholic emerged victorious in the high-scoring game. The Vikings (6-2) saw additional contributions from multiple hitters including Chris Wilson who recorded three hits along with driving in two runs, Brayden Morrison adding an RBI accompanied by a double, Nick Anderson contributing one RBI, and Brian McCabe delivering two RBIs. Meanwhile, Gregory Viloria scored twice and added an RBI, and Michael Pellegrino crossed home plate once, both having at least one hit apiece.
In the game for Scotch Plains-Fanwood (6-3), Joe LaRosa smashed a home run and went 3-for-5 at bat, also contributing a double and driving in one run.
Dunellen 16, Highland Park 6:
Kristian Roman Lopez hit a homerun and ended up 3-for-4 at bat, driving in four runs and scoring three times himself as Dunellen secured victory in the GMC Gold Division match.
The Destroyers (4-3) took control with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. Joseph Reyes contributed significantly by getting a single and driving in three runs, while Luke Shealy also made his mark with two singles and two RBIs. Additionally, Michael Dow scored two runs and got two hits, and Mark Stein excelled with both a double and an RBI along with scoring three runs. Cole Mayer added value with a double driven in for one run.
Julio Rodriguez had a 2-for-3 game with 3 RBIs and a double for Highland Park (2-4), while Connor Roth-Zappo contributed with two RBIs from a single hit.
St. Joseph 19, South Brunswick 2: St. Joseph maintained their strong batting performance with 23 hits in the GMC Red Division victory.
The Falcons (4-2) have secured four consecutive victories and scored an average of 13 runs per game during this winning streak. In their most recent match, Luke Palermo topped the batting chart by recording 4 hits out of 5 at-bats along with driving in 4 runs and hitting a double. Similarly, Bobby Christensen (3 hits out of 4 at-bats, 3 RBIs, one double) and JP Zayle (3 hits out of 5 at-bats, 2 RBIs, also a double) both put up impressive performances.
Contributing with two hits each were Joseph Barca (scoring 2 runs), Danny Internoscia (driving in 2 RBIs), and Luke Baranauskas (also driving in 2 RBIs). Adding one hit each were Giacomo Imperiele (who scored a run), Damian Pipitone (contributing 2 runs), Matthew Ferber, and Owen Krulikowski (each scoring a run as well).

Leading 6-3, the Trojans unleashed an offensive barrage with 11 runs in the top of the fifth inning, effectively ending the game.
Declan DiCarlo (3-for-5, 3 RBIs), Louis Rizzolo (2-for-3, 3 RBIs), and Junior Perez (3-for-4, 2 RBIs) spearheaded the Trojans’ (5-3) win. Adrian Sanchez, Harrison Eng, Lucas Cassino, and Chris Gutauskas each contributed one RBI.
Freshman Zach Hebbe secured his inaugural victory on the pitcher’s mound after throwing four innings, giving up three hits and recording six strikeouts.
Andrew Selover hit a double and brought home two runs for North Brunswick (1-5).
Perth Amboy Magnet 21, Somerset Tech 19:
Isaiah Nieves hit a single and brought home three runs as Perth Amboy Magnet emerged victorious in a high-scoring GMC Gold Division match.
PA Magnet (2-4) took an early lead at 17-10 before Somerset Tech (2-3) staged a comeback with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. In response, the Patriots answered back with four runs during their next turn at bat in the top of the sixth. Zachary Lenardo performed well going 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Jordan Barnes contributed significantly by singling and getting hit by two pitches; he also crossed home plate three times and drove in two runs. Notably, John Valdez recorded one single and scored four runs while contributing two RBIs as did Jonathan Banko who doubled, scored five runs from his three walks. Furthermore, Jackelvis Nunez brought in one run off his hit whereas Edward Urena notched a double along with driving in another run.
For Somerset Tech (2-3), Caden Winnicki fell just one double short of completing the cycle with his 3-for-5 performance and contributed seven RBIs. Anthony Torres (3-for-5, RBI) and Alex Morales (RBI) both recorded two hits each, while Nate White’s double and Joel Williams’ three runs scored also resulted in them driving in two runs respectively.
Piscataway 9, John F. Kennedy 8:
Piscataway surged ahead with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, securing their second consecutive victory.
Jason Hoffman contributed significantly to the Chiefs’ (2-4) victory by hitting a single that drove in three runs and securing the win after pitching one inning in relief. Justin Brown also made notable contributions by getting a hit, driving in two runs, and striking out nine batters over five innings, though he conceded three runs (two of them earned). Additionally, both Kevin Kovach (with a double) and Jayden Bynes (via a single) managed to drive in one run each.
Grant Lorentzen went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI for the Mustangs (3-4).
South Amboy 7, Carteret 4:
Jeremy Vasquez scored three runs and got a hit as South Amboy claimed victory in the GMC Blue Division match.
Jaidel Vasquez was 1-for-3 with two runs batted in as the visiting Governors (3-4) rallied for four runs in the fourth inning to claim the lead. Diego Colon (who hit a triple) and Daniel Evanski (with a single) both drove in runs, while Ben Smith contributed a triple and scored, and Micah Nemeth added a double before crossing home plate.
Colon secured the victory by giving up two runs over five innings along with recording four strikeouts.
For Carteret (2-6), Rashad Bennett had a performance of 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Governor Livingston 1, Brearley 0:
Vinny Graham and Anthony DeNora shared the clean sheet as the Highlanders (7-0) stayed unbeaten.
In five innings, Graham gave up two hits and one walk, while DeNora pitched two flawless frames. He also scored thanks to an RBI from Reid Bazydolo (who went 2-for-3 with a double).
East Brunswick Magnet 19, Timothy Christian 1 (4 innings)
Senior Nomar Carreras smashed two home runs and brought in five runs – all within the first inning.
The Tigers (7-0) notched 11 runs in the opening inning on their way to securing the GMC Gold Division victory. He ended up going 3-for-3 with an impressive six RBIs. Jack Clements hit a triple and went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, Tommy O’Neill had a double and one RBI in his 2-for-3 performance, Braeden Cullen achieved 2-for-2 hitting including a double and scoring once, and Andrew Teleposky contributed with a single and two RBIs for EB Magnet.
The only hit for Timothy Christian (0-5) was John Thiero.
Franklin 6, Montgomery 2:
Dylan Shah pitched the full game, permitting two runs (only one earned), spreading six hits across, and recording five strikeouts in the victory.
Izaiah Robinson smashed a solo home run for the Warriors (2-3), and Mike Schiermeyer went 2-for-4 at bat with one RBI.
Alex Bender went 2-for-3 with one RBIs, and Mason Neufeld hit a triple and scored for Montgomery (1-5).

Governor Livingston (6-0) scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead and essentially seal the victory. Anthony Claudino pitched a flawless frame to close out the game. Geertsma had three hits, drove in three runs, crossed home plate twice, and swiped three bases.
Dominic Labisi went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while Diskin contributed two doubles and two runs. Michael Basile also managed two doubles along with an RBI and a run, and Ryan Pappas recorded a triple, drove in a run, and scored twice. Anthony DeNora added an RBI and a run after singling, and Alex Adornato also got a single.
The only hit of the game was achieved by Nick Anderson for Union Catholic (5-2).

Brenton Ansbach spun a complete game one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts, yielding only a walk and hitting a batter over the course of five innings, leading Voorhees to a decisive victory.
The Vikings (4-2) exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the second inning, securing an 8-0 advantage. Alex Dyevich contributed significantly with a double and a triple, driving in four RBIs, while Carter Nielsen (with a double and scoring two runs), Julian Liu (scoring twice), and Jack Schlaudecker each brought home two runs. The veteran right-hander gave up just three hits without issuing any walks and recorded 12 strikeouts across all seven innings. In the top of the sixth inning, Coloniascored thanks to an RBI from Jake Harvatt. Additionally, Pascarellahad two successful at-bats out of three attempts, while both Colin Kroner and Jayce Rodriguez contributed with their respective hits.

The Eagles (3-2) piled up four runs in the bottom of the first inning and tacked on another four runs in the third. In this victory, Aaron Parisi contributed significantly with a double and two RBIs, while Ty Dunn made his mark by singling, drawing two walks, crossing home plate twice, and driving in one run.
Jack Budrewrwicz hit two singles along with one run batted in, while Edward Cooper had a double and walked twice, scoring three times. Nate Lawton secured the victory by permitting only two unearned runs over four innings pitched, striking out five batters during this time.

Junior Louis Rizzolo and senior Declan DiCarlo pitched a combined no-hitter as the Trojans secured victory in the GMC White Division match.
Rizzolo fanned 15 batters over 6 2/3 innings, issuing two walks and hitting one batter. He allowed an unearned run but reached his pitch count limit of 110. Declan DiCarlo concluded the game with a groundout.
The Trojans (4-3) put up two runs in the second inning; one run came from an RBI ground-out by Chris Gutauskas, and another was due to a passed ball that allowed Donovan Epps to score.
The Chargers (4-4) gained momentum in the fourth quarter when Stephen Henits scored after walking with the bases loaded. Mark Stein hit a home run, had a double, and ended up 3-for-5 at bat with three RBIs as Dunellen won the GMC Gold Division game.
The Destroyers (3-3) took an 8-7 lead and clinched their victory by scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, handing New Brunswick (3-1) its inaugural defeat.
Joseph Reyes had a great game, tripling and finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Michael Dow contributed with a 2-for-3 performance including two RBIs.Danny Watts also made an impact at bat with 2 RBIs and drawing 3 walks, alongside Kristian Roman Lopez who scored 2 runs. Additionally, both Angel DeNapoli and Ryan Hutchins each drew two walks and managed one RBI respectively.
Watts secured the win as a pitcher by conceding five runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out eight batters in the process.
Kelvin Heuston had a strong game going 3-for-4 with one RBI for the Zebras, while Jose Encarnacion contributed significantly with two RBIs from his single hit. Additionally, Jacob Henderson and Jose Omar Abreu both delivered doubles along with driving in one run apiece.

Joe Spinello hit a home run and finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs as East Brunswick (3-3) took control of the game, scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to turn a 1-1 tie into a more comfortable lead. Felix Muñoz also contributed with two hits and one RBI.
In the victory, Joshua Hines scored an RBI with his single. Ryan Leach hit a two-run triple in the top of the 10th inning, putting Woodbridge ahead 4-2, as the Barrons stayed undefeated with their GMC Red Division victory.
Woodbridge (7-0) secured two runs in the initial frame, while Edison mounted a comeback with one run each in the fourth and sixth frames.

In the sixth inning, Louis Rizzolo broke the deadlock at 5-5 with a hit through the center, bringing home Lucas Cassino who had gone 2-for-3 with one RBI earlier. The decisive blow came from senior Declan DiCarlo’s RBI single which provided extra cushion; this helped secure the victory for STA (3-2). Micah Nemeth hit a home run and drove in four runs, while Diego Colon excelled in multiple areas as South Amboy secured victory in the Blue Division.
The Governors (2-3) fell behind 4-1 initially but mounted an impressive comeback by scoring eight runs in the top of the third inning and tacked on another five runs in the fifth.
Colon permitted four runs (2 earned) over his complete five innings pitched, striking out nine batters, and also contributed at bat going 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Ben Smith had a productive day as well, hitting 2-for-4 including a double and driving in one run. Robert Senape recorded two RBIs and Jeremy Vasquez added another RBI along with scoring twice. Joseph Foreman, Daniel Evanski, and Wesley Lowe each provided an RBI respectively.

In the bottom of the fourth, Ian Lameira scored Jake Zotollo, securing the game’s only run. With this victory, the Canucks (4-1) handed Metuchen (3-1) their first defeat of the season.
Spotswood 2, Perth Amboy 0:
Will Buchan supplied all the scoring the Chargers required with a two-run homer hit to center field during his team’s third turn at bat. This powerful shot plated leadoff batter Ryan Orth, who had reached base on a single following an extended nine-pitch plate appearance to kick off the game.
Following a strikeout, Buchan approached home plate and hit the initial pitch over the center-field fence, both opening and closing the scoring in this tightly contested pitcher’s battle. As a seasoned right-handed player, Buchan commenced the game by pitching three innings of one-hit baseball while recording five strikeouts during that span.
He passed the baton to veteran southpaw Jack Bicsko at the beginning of the fourth inning, with Bicsko taking over from Buchan and fanning eight batters for the remainder of the game. Both pitchers conceded one hit and one walk each.
Justin Foy, Panther’s star pitcher, suffered despite his impressive performance, as he threw a complete game and allowed only five scattered hits with an outstanding 13 strikeouts and zero walks. For Perth Amboy (0-4), who struggled throughout the match, Guillermo Vidal contributed a double to left field in the first inning, followed by Christopher Rodriguez hitting a triple to left in the sixth inning.

Zach Tyler hit a double and brought home three runs as the Mustangs rallied with five runs in the top of the eighth inning to secure the GMC Blue Division victory.
In game (2-3), J.F. Kennedy benefited from solid mound work. The win was secured by Grant Lorentzen who pitched three perfect innings out of the bullpen, striking out seven batters and giving up only one hit. At bat, he contributed as well, going two for four with one RBIs. Starting pitcher Myles Ulaky conceded one run over five innings, recording five strikeouts but faced some trouble issuing five walks along with surrendering a single hit; however, he managed to drive in one run too.
Soham Prajapat began the game for J.P. Stevens (2-3), pitching 6 1/3 innings during which he surrendered one run, struck out nine batters, and only conceded two hits along with a single walk. Additionally, he managed to get a hit and score his team’s sole run.

Anderson and Michael Pellegrino both had singles and brought home two runs each. Brayden Morrison went 2-for-3 at bat, hitting a triple and scoring once. Luiggi Sacca hit a triple, while Josiah Sharpe and Gregory Viloria each got a single, crossed home plate, and swiped a base.

Lucas Malamug nearly achieved perfection as the Bulldogs secured their third consecutive victory to start the season.
The young right-handed pitcher didn’t concede a single hit over the complete seven innings, permitting only four walks and one hit batsman while recording seven strikeouts. Metuchen (3-0) added three runs in the top of the seventh inning, bringing the score to 10-0.
Malamug also enjoyed a good day at bat, hitting 3-for-5 with one RBI. Matt Jelleme and Cooper Crawford both performed well, each getting 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Andre Love surrendered a run for Monroe after allowing a hit and five walks, along with recording eight strikeouts, in the Red Division victory which boosted the Falcons’ record to 3-1.

In the top of the seventh inning, South Plainfield scored two runs and subsequently halted Old Bridge’s comeback attempt, securing the thrilling Red Division victory.
The Old Bridge (2-3) squad started the season at number one according to the Home News Tribune’s GMC rankings, with South Plainfield (3-1) following closely behind at second place.
On Tuesday, Old Bridge surged ahead by scoring three runs in the bottom of the second inning, taking a 3-1 advantage. During the seventh inning, Dom Massaro started things off with a hit, followed by Nick Irizarry who managed to get on base after hitting a bunt down the third baseline which he narrowly reached safely. The swift-footed Massaro advanced aggressively to third as soon as the ball was fielded. Subsequently, Dan Kapsch drew a walk when the bases were full.
Old Bridge chose the aggressive Massaro who was off third base; he scored during the rundown when the throw to home plate slipped out of the catcher’s hands, tying the game at 3-3. Following an intentional walk for Aiden McCarthy and a closely contested groundout, Kevin Penny drew a walk which allowed Kapsch to score, giving Old Bridge a 4-3 lead.

Jayden Jimenez entered the game to finish things off for the Tigers and confronted the heart of the opposing lineup. With two outs and a runner on base, he managed to strike out Erich Schikschenet, who advanced after the ball escaped from the grasp of the catcher. Despite a double steal putting runners at second and third, Jimenez secured a popup near shortstop to conclude the match.
Penny secured the victory by permitting three runs (two earned) over six innings along with recording four strikeouts. Massaro went 3-for-3 at bat, added a walk, and crossed home plate three times.

Things weren’t looking promising for Edison as they trailed 6-3 heading into the seventh inning. However, the Eagle staged a comeback with three runs to tie the game and send it into extras. They then scored another four runs in the top of the eighth to secure victory in the Red Division.
Robert Roma achieved a 2-for-4 performance along with driving in three runs, whereas Daren Tirado had an impressive outing going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scoring three times. Teddy Eyler contributed by bringing home two runners as well. Furthermore, Ray Tavarez and Isaiah Lutz Sowell both managed hits twice out of four attempts and crossed home plate twice each. Meanwhile, Anthony Calantoni got a hit, drew a walk, and scored two runs during his turn at bat.

Additionally, Harrison Eng and Chris Gutauskas contributed with a single hit apiece, driving in two RBIs each.

In his initial varsity appearance from the bullpen, Kevin Arroyo excelled, and Ryan Leach hit a home run as well, leading the Barrons to complete the Red Division sweep. Woodbridge entered the season with some uncertainties due to having multiple new varsity players and transitioning to the Red Division following their win in the White Division championship the previous year.
The Barrons (2-0) have shown no signs of slowing down. On Thursday, they plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning to grab a 4-1 advantage and added another three runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 9-3.
A first-year student who was part of the junior varsity team last season pitched for five innings this time around, allowing just one run from two hits, a walk, and two hit batsmen, while recording four strikeouts to secure the victory.
In the victory, both Leach and Michael Gurovich (who hit a double with one run batted in and three runs scored) managed two hits each. Similarly, Nick Lukachyk and Bryant Pereira drove in two runs apiece; each of them had a single hit as well. Additionally, Gavin Slicner contributed with a single, a walk, and a score, whereas Xavier Diaz reached base via a walk and also scored.
For St. Joseph, Luke Palermo hit a home run and contributed two RBIs.

South Plainfield was down 2-0 heading into the third period but demonstrated the potency of their attack as the Tigers continued to press and ultimately completed the GMC Red Division sweep.
In South Plainfield’s (2-0) game, they managed to score at least one run in each of the final five innings, with particular emphasis on scoring three runs in the top of the fifth and adding two more in the seventh inning.
Chris Loniewski recorded 2 hits and crossed home plate twice, contributing one RBI along with two walks. For the Tigers, Nick Irizarry tallied three runs, while Lorenzo Fuscoletti accumulated four walks and scored two runs. Additionally, Dan Kapsch, Aiden McCarthy, Ryan Balent, and Steve Studlack all contributed with individual singles and brought in one run apiece.

The young right-handed pitcher did not concede a single hit but issued seven walks, striking out six batters instead. In the last couple of innings, Landen Farmer gave up a hit and walked a batter, helping the Mountaineers improve their record to 1-1. It was Matt Stefani who recorded Bernards’ hit.
For Rutgers Prep (2-1), Li Perez, a junior right-hander, recorded 13 strikeouts in five innings of one-hit baseball and issued just one walk. Ryan Takacs wrapped up the game with a flawless final frame. Matt Bilmes registered the squad’s only hit during the contest.
Middlesex 9, St. Thomas Aquinas 1:
During his first year on the pitching staff, Dominic Long excelled, and he continued this form at the start of his second year as Middlesex secured a split within the GMC White Division against St. Thomas Aquinas.
The right-hander conceded one unearned run and distributed four hits along with four walks, striking out six batters to boost the Blue Jays’ record to (1-1). Last season, Long posted a 3.32 ERA accompanied by 39 strikeouts during his debut year.
Blaze Iannetti, who previously served as an assistant before becoming head coach under Mike O’Donnell with the Blue Jays, secured his inaugural victory in this role.
In the top of the third inning, Middlesex extended their lead with four runs. Luke Jones (who went 3-for-3 with two doubles) and Sean Hughes (contributing a double) both knocked in three runs apiece. With commitments to Rutgers, Rosado shined brightly going 3-for-3 at bat, hitting both a homerun and a double along with securing three walks and driving in four RBIs. Brendan Lell contributed significantly too, notching down three hits and crossing home plate thrice. James Zsorey bolstered their score further with his double, bringing in two RBIs. In the Skyland/Greater Middlesex Conference crossover game, The Mustangs benefited greatly from a solid pitching effort by freshmen Tyler and Aidan Johnson, who collectively allowed only five hits en route to a complete shutout victory. Manville (2-1) secured their lead with three runs in both the third and fifth innings, followed by single-run scores in the sixth and seventh frames. Freshman pitcher Johnso$n claimed the win after tossing five innings of three-hit baseball, striking out five batters along the way. Offensively, Brandon and Collin Shimp were standout performers; Brandon had a productive day at bat going 2-for-3 with a double, driving in two runs, scoring twice himself, and stealing two bases. Meanwhile, his brother Collin achieved a commendable 3-for-4 batting record, contributing a double and recording an RBI as well.
Gill St. Bernard’s 5, Pingry 2:
In five innings, Niko West permitted one run along with recording seven strikeouts from five hits and two walks, which helped the visiting Knights. The Knights demonstrated their status as the top team in the Home News Tribune’s preseason rankings for the Greater Middlesex Conference. They showcased exceptional skills in both strong pitching and consistent batting across all positions. This was evident during their victory at Fred Cole Field on Tuesday.
Senior right-handed pitcher Justin Hascup tossed a two-hit complete game over six innings, permitting just two runs (one earned), striking out nine batters, and walking one. In the top of the first inning, East Brunswick surged ahead with a 2-0 advantage thanks to Joe Spinello’s two-run home run. Old Bridge bounced back by scoring four times in the fourth inning to claim the lead, then sealed their victory with another four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Jared Volpe led off strongly, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scoring twice. Following him at number nine was Brody Nugent who managed two hits out of three attempts along with a walk, one RBI, and two runs scored. The players in-between were not too shabby either. At spots two through four, John Smith contributed two hits including a double, drove in one run, and crossed home plate twice; Akhil Penkala delivered with two hits from his four tries plus he recorded three RBIs and doubled once; Erich Schikschenet matched this effort by hitting safely twice out of four times up and adding another RBI and a double to the tally. Number eight batter Matt Chin made significant contributions as well: he batted successfully twice out of three opportunities, earned two RBis, collected a double, and came around to score twice after being hit by a pitch during play. Additionally, Noah Balbuena brought across one runner and Anthony Jannucci smashed a triple driving in one run for their team’s victory.
The other hit for East Brunswick (0-1) was achieved by Brandon Bastek.
North Brunswick 3, Sayreville 2:
The Raiders feature a roster primarily composed of new varsity players. On Tuesday, however, one of their seasoned athletes stepped up, helping North Brunswick secure an important GMC White Division victory.
Connor Levine, the sole senior right-handed pitcher with prior varsity experience, pitched a five-hit complete game, conceding two unearned runs and racking up five strikeouts. In this pitching battle, the Raiders managed to score twice in the top of the sixth inning, securing a narrow 3-2 advantage.
In Sayreville, Thomas Schallin fanned thirteen batters over five and one-third innings, permitting just two hits and three walks, with three runs conceded (one earned). Additionally, he got a hit and crossed home plate. For the Bombers, Michael Robinson contributed an RBI, while Joe Santamaria had a double.

The hosting Argonauts scored four runs in the second inning, added two more in the third, and then tallied another five in the same frame to take an impressive 11-2 advantage. In this game, Cody Rullo had a strong showing at bat going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, while Matt Bilmes contributed by driving in two runs. St. Thomas Aquinas 9, Middlesex 2:
In the top of the seventh inning trailing 2-1, the Trojans scored eight runs to secure a comeback victory in their first game of the GMC White Division. Senior pitcher Declan DiCarlo secured the win after throwing two scoreless innings as a reliever. The offensive efforts were led by seniors Jack Valenzuela and Don Epps who both knocked in two RBIs each. Additionally, Will Bethea, Harrison Eng, and Adrian Sanchez contributed one RBI each towards the team’s success. Notably, Epps went 3-for-4 at bat, Eng was 2-for-3, and DiCarlo also achieved a multi-hit performance going 2-for-3. For Middlesex, Marcus Lavornia recorded a single along with driving in two runs; meanwhile, Dom Parenti and Dominic Long each managed to get two hits during this match.
Ridge 8, North Hunterdon 2:
Aidan Stieglitz played exceptionally well both offensively and defensively for Ridge in their opening match, securing victory for his team. As the away team, the Red Devils racked up eight runs from eight hits, taking an early lead of 4-0 within the first two innings. At bat, Stieglitz managed two successful hits out of three attempts, hitting a home run and driving in two RBIs. On the pitcher’s mound, he threw five flawless innings where he allowed only one hit and issued five walks.
Additionally, Quinn Dashefsky (2-for-4, 2 RBIs, double), Toby Nicholson (two doubles, RBI), and Jake Dolan (a hit with two RBIs) had impressive offensive performances as well.
Alex Famolari conceded four runs over four innings along with recording 10 strikeouts for North Hunterdon, while Graham Berry and Connor Hansen brought in the runs.
South Plainfield 14, Edison 4:
South Plainfield is set for an impressive campaign and started off strong with a last-minute victory in the Red Division. Dominic Massaro hit a crucial three-run home run in the fourth inning, giving the Tigers a 5-4 advantage.
The centerfielder ended up 3-for-4 with four RBIs, two runs, and a stolen base. Ryan Balent had a solid game going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Chris Loniewski performed well in his first varsity match, hitting 2-for-3 and scoring one run.
Kevin Penny secured the victory after permitting four runs (two earned) over four innings, with Aiden McCarthy recording the save through pitching two scoreless innings and striking out two batters. Penny contributed significantly at bat as well by achieving a single, drawing two walks, crossing home plate thrice, and bringing one runner home. Fresh from earning GMC All-Star accolades in wrestling, Nick Irizarry added to the team’s success with a single and two RBIs. Lorenzo Fuscoletti and Dan Kapsch both recorded an RBI each in this winning effort.
For Edison, Darren Tirado hit a double and scored an RBI, and Connor Murphy also recorded an RBI.
Monroe 7, South Brunswick 5 (8 Inn):
Liam Williams had a game where he got hits in 3 of his 5 at-bats and drove in three runs as the Falcons secured the Red Division victory in their first match-up of the season.
During the eighth inning at Monroe, Jake Lobue started with a single, Ben Faigin advanced due to an error, and Ryan Desmond drew a walk. Subsequently, Liam Williams reached base safely because of a throwing error aimed at second base, which allowed for a force play. This situation resulted in two runs scoring, making the score 7-5.

Tyler Chiola secured the victory in relief after pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings, racking up three strikeouts, giving up two hits, and issuing one walk. Kroner had an efficient outing, surrendering three runs (two earned) over 3 1/3 innings, during which he allowed only two hits and walked one batter.
Dylan Chiera scored a triple and contributed three RBIs, while Jayce Rodriguez managed a single and recorded two RBIs. Cory Pascarella went 2-for-3 at bat, hitting a double along with driving in two runs for the victory. Adding to the offensive surge were Nick Minue (with one RBI and scoring twice), Jake Gotti (one RBI and also scoring twice), and Jake Harvatt (driving in one run and scoring once). Michael Drelich pitched two scoreless innings for the victory, striking out three batters. Justin Labrador and Connor Quinn both contributed two hits apiece in the triumph.
