Two players of Thom Haye and Ragnar Oratmanguen’s descent finally made their debut with the Indonesian national team against Vietnam in the 2026 World Cup qualifying match for the Asian zone. The match, which was held at the May Dinh Stadium on Tuesday, March 22, 2023, ended with a score of 3-0, securing a win for Indonesia. The duel started with a medium tempo in the first half, and the Indonesian National Team took the lead in the 9th minute through Jay Idnes, who scored a powerful header from a corner kick situation, assisted by Thom Haye. Shortly after, Ragnar Oratmangoen doubled the lead with a goal in the 24th minute.

The Indonesian debutant managed to break through the Vietnamese defense and get into the penalty box before shooting a low shot at the far post. In the second half, Vietnam seemed to be more aggressive and created several opportunities, but the Indonesian National Team’s defense was still able to hold them off. Towards the end of the second half, Ramadan Sananta scored to put Indonesia ahead 3-0, taking advantage of the chaos in front of Vietnam’s goal. Indonesian national team coach Sin Tai Young attributed the victory against the Vietnam National Team in the match in Hanoi to hard work and luck. He had previously expressed determination to break Vietnam’s record of never losing at home for almost 20 years, and the Garuda squad’s landslide victory over The Golden Star Warrior proved that determination.

He mentioned that this match was quite challenging for Vietnam because they had lost in the previous match when they visited Jakarta. Meanwhile, Indonesian national team player Ragnar Oratmangoen was fasting after scoring a goal in his debut with the Garuda squad. He expressed his desire to contribute more to the Indonesian national team. Oratmangoen scored in the 24th minute through a beautiful play. Ragnar couldn’t contain his joy after making his debut with the Indonesian national team and contributing a winning goal for the team in his first match.

Ragnar expressed his happiness and excitement for being able to play in the match. He emphasized the team’s hard work, communication, and unity, and stated that they still need to put in more effort. The victory has put the Indonesian national team in a good position to advance to the next round, currently holding second place in the group standings. Iraq leads the group with 12 points, while Vietnam follows in third place with 3 points, and the Philippines sits at the bottom with one point.
