The Launch Of The New Indonesian National Team Jersey Has Received A Lot Of Criticism
The launch of the new Indonesian National Team jersey has received a lot of criticism. The Indonesian national football team recently launched their new red and white jerseys ahead of a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Vietnam. The jersey was created in collaboration with a new company called ASPO. The launch took place on Monday, March 18th, 2024 in the Sbeda area of Jakarta. The home jersey features a red base color with a white circle motif on the collar and sleeves.
In contrast to previous national team jerseys, this year’s design is simpler, which has caused some criticism from fans who feel it is too similar to the jerseys of other ASEAN countries, such as Singapore and Vietnam. However, the design was inspired by the 1981 edition of the national team jersey, which helped the Indonesian team beat Japan 2-0.
CEO Erigo Muhammad revealed that the price of the Indonesian National Team jersey made by Apo ranges from IDR 9,000 to IDR 1.2 million. Additionally, training jerseys will also be released to the market. The first set of training jerseys will be priced at R499,000 and will be available for pre-order for 45 days. However, immediately after the official launch of the 2024 Indonesian National Team’s newest training jersey, there was some criticism from the Shinteyong training team.
This occurred when the Indonesian National Team held their first training in Madya Senayan Stadium on March 18th, 2024. The players wore red training jerseys with a combination of black and white assistant coaches. The Shinteyong team protested over the quality of the jersey, which they felt did not absorb sweat well. The National Team Manager, Sumarji, confirmed that the ERP welcomed the criticism positively and that the new jersey would be given to the National Team immediately. Sumarji also confirmed that the jersey that Shinteyong was protesting against was for training purposes only and that the red and white jersey for the match was deemed to be good. The Indonesian National Team will likely wear the new jersey when facing Vietnam.
