Come share:

The Art of Processing Areca Leaf Frond Waste to Become Useful. Since 2018, Rengkuh Banyu Mahandaru, through the Plepah Team, has continued to develop with farmers in East and West Tanjung Jabung and Mendis Village.

They supply environmentally friendly food packaging to more than 100 thousand food containers per month. For their dedication, the Plepah Team received appreciation from the Satu Indonesia Award 2023 in the Group category, for their efforts to replace plastic and styrofoam with areca nut fronds, and help increase the income of farmers or areca nut frond collectors.

They only understand how to process areca nuts but cannot process waste such as areca palm leaf waste. In fact, around us there are many things that can be processed and developed that we have to think about and that we can utilize the waste from Agriculture.

Of course, it also has an impact on farmers or economic actors in the agricultural sector. Not only talking about main commodities, for example areca nut. Areca palm trees’ main commodity is fruit, but now there is additional income from selling the waste, this becomes a domino effect that we can process and generate income for the community.
